What Type of Siding Is Right for You?
Numerous siding options are available, each with its own set of benefits and considerations. These range from traditional choices like wood and vinyl to more modern alternatives such as fiber cement and metal. When choosing the right siding for your home, factors such as climate, maintenance requirements, aesthetic preferences, and budget should guide your decision.
If you are not sure where to start, our Fargo siding installation experts can help you understand your options and make recommendations based on your needs and budget. Whether you are going for a contemporary, rustic, or even modern look... we have a style and color for you!
We are also happy to install custom siding. If you can dream it up, we can put it together for you.
Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding stands out as a popular choice among homeowners thanks to its combination of durability, affordability, and relatively low maintenance requirements. It is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including heavy rain, strong winds, and extreme temperatures, without fading, cracking, or peeling. This resilience contributes to its long lifespan, with quality vinyl siding lasting anywhere from 20 to 40 years, depending on the climate and the level of care it receives. Norandex Vinyl Siding is made with ColorHold®, a highly durable cap stock that resists fading and discoloring and is backed by a Limited Lifetime Transferable Warranty including Lifetime Fade Protection.
Box Steel Siding
Box steel siding offers a robust alternative for homeowners seeking both strength and style. Its main benefits include unparalleled durability against physical impacts and resistance to fire. Steel siding excels in resisting corrosion and discoloration caused by prolonged exposure to the elements, ensuring its aesthetic remains pristine over time. It also often only requires occasional cleaning to maintain its appearance. When properly installed and maintained, box steel siding can last up to 40 years or more, making it an excellent long-term investment for those looking to combine functionality with sleek, modern aesthetics. If you’d prefer a more traditional look, we can install steel siding that perfectly mimics the look of real wood siding in a range of curated color options, including a classic designer palette, bold hues, and realistic woodgrain finishes.
Fiber Cement Siding
Fiber cement siding offers a blend of durability, beauty, and relatively low maintenance requirements. This type of siding is composed of cement, sand, and cellulose fibers, which together create a product that closely mimics the appearance of natural wood, stone, or brick but without their respective maintenance challenges. One of the most appealing benefits of fiber cement siding is its resistance to common hazards that affect other materials, such as rot, fire, and termite damage. It's also known for its ability to withstand harsh weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy rains, and extreme temperatures, maintaining its integrity and appearance over time. Fiber cement siding can generally last up to 50 years.
Seamless Siding
Seamless siding presents a sleek and sophisticated option for homeowners prioritizing both aesthetics and performance. This type of siding eliminates unsightly seams, offering a smooth, continuous look that enhances the overall appearance of a home. Beyond its visual appeal, seamless siding is custom-fitted to each home, reducing the risks of leaks and drafts that can occur with traditional panel siding. It's also noteworthy for its durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, making it a strong protector against wind, rain, and snow. Seamless siding usually lasts anywhere from 20 to 50 years depending on the material used and the quality of installation.
Versetta Stone Siding
Versetta Stone siding offers true authenticity with its natural shapes and hand-crafted details. Backed with decades of experience in the manufactured stone industry, Versetta Stone is the only siding to master the true look of hand-laid stone walls with panels that offer virtually undetectable joints.
Aluminum Siding
Aluminum siding is lightweight, durable, and resistant to rust and corrosion. However, it can dent more easily than other materials and may require periodic painting to maintain its appearance, as the color can fade over time when exposed to the sun. Aluminum used to be one of the most popular siding materials, and modern aluminum does offer some attractive benefits. With that said, most homeowners now choose vinyl or other materials.
LP® SmartSide® Siding
Our products are built on LP® SmartSide®, an engineered wood product treated with a SmartGuard® process. This allows our siding to withstand extreme temperatures, heavy humidity, freeze/thaws, and everything in between.

Can You Paint Siding?
Generally, yes – and painting your siding can offer several advantages. A fresh coat of paint can significantly improve your home's curb appeal, making it stand out in the neighborhood or even increasing its market value if you're considering selling. Beyond looks, painting provides an extra layer of protection against the elements, safeguarding the material underneath from moisture, UV rays, and temperature fluctuations that can lead to wear over time. This protective barrier can extend the life of your siding, potentially saving you money on costly repairs or premature replacements.
Proper preparation work is key to ensuring a finish that not only looks good but will also last. This includes thorough cleaning, repairing any damage, and using the right type of primer and paint. Additionally, while painting can offer a fresh look and additional protection to siding, it also requires maintenance and may need to be redone every 5 to 10 years, depending on the siding material, paint quality, and exposure to the elements.
If you are thinking about painting your siding, get in touch with our friendly team at Seamless Pro. We can evaluate the state of your siding and walk you through what benefits painting can provide. Depending on the age and condition of your siding, it may make more sense to replace it. If you want to move forward with painting, we have the tools and knowledge to get the job done right!
Signs Your Siding Needs to Be Replaced
In some cases, replacing aging or deteriorating siding may be smarter than continuously paying for repairs. New siding, although a larger upfront investment, can enhance energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs over time, and improve your home's overall value. Plus, contemporary siding materials are designed to last longer and better withstand the elements.
Our Fargo siding installation experts can carefully inspect your home and provide an honest assessment of whether repairs will suffice or if replacement is necessary. Our goal is to ensure your siding is up to the task of protecting your home, whether that means completing simple repairs or helping you install new, modern siding.
You should not wait to schedule an inspection if you notice any of the following problems:
- Warped or buckled siding. If you notice your siding warping or buckling, moisture has penetrated the material and may be causing structural damage. It's crucial to address this promptly to prevent further deterioration.
- Frequent need for paint. Siding that requires frequent repainting, typically more often than every five to six years, indicates underlying issues such as poor-quality material or existing damage that is affecting its longevity.
- Mold, mildew, or fungus growth. The presence of mold, mildew, or fungus, especially at the seams of the siding, suggests that water is penetrating and being held against the siding, potentially leading to more significant damage. In some cases, this type of damage can be repaired, but in more severe cases, replacement may be necessary.
- Dry rot. This condition can be particularly insidious because it often starts beneath the surface, making it hard to detect. Tapping on your siding with a rubber hammer can help uncover areas where dry rot has taken hold, compromising the stability of the siding. Like mold-related issues, isolated areas of dry rot may be able to be repaired, but if the rot has spread, replacement may be the best path forward.
- Cracked or loose siding. A few cracks or looseness in a couple of panels can usually be replaced individually. However, if this issue is widespread, your siding is nearing the end of its life, and replacement will likely be a more cost-effective solution.
- High energy bills. While not as immediately apparent, an unexplained increase in your energy bills may suggest your siding is no longer providing adequate insulation, allowing heat to escape during the winter and enter during the summer, consequently straining your HVAC system. If siding repairs do not resolve the issue and other potential causes are ruled out, it may be time to replace your siding.
